Great Art for Great Lakes
Lake Ontario Portrait Celebrates Custom Community Art Project is an initiative presented by Great Art for Great Lakes and is now on display at Central Library. The sculpture, Lake Ontario Portrait, was created by Hamilton artist, Nicole Clouston. Clouston used samples of mud collected along Lake Ontario’s shoreline. As the mud is exposed to light, the microbes present in the mud will begin to grow, forming vibrant bands on the surface of the sculpture. This unique exhibit will be on display permanently on Central Library’s 4th floor for the next five years. This is a new community art project to celebrate the Great Lakes and Canada’s 150th anniversary.
